Professionalism Is One of the Main Pillars on Which the Foundation of Delta Sigma Pi Was Built Upon

Here at Delta Sigma Pi, our goal is to take aspiring business students and develop them into business professionals. The characteristics of professionalism and professional activities is one aspect that distinguishes Delta Sigma Pi from volunteer groups, clubs, scholastic honor societies, and social fraternities. These professional activities provide numerous networking opportunities with people in the business world and these interactions leads not only to internship and job opportunities, but friends as well. The attention to the development of professionalism by the Brothers of Delta Sigma Pi allows us to distinguish ourselves from other business students and job candidates. These events not only provide Deltasigs with the chance to meet professionals, it also gives potential employers the opportunity to interact with eager and talented students ready to enter the workforce.

In the fall semester, we host a variety of professional development workshops which include but are not limited to, a Professional Bootcamp led by the School of Management’s Director of Career Services Carolyn Schapiro, which includes open resume critiques, cover letter reviews, business etiquette, interview preparation, etc. We work closely with both the faculty and industry professionals so that we may host panel discussions, guest speaker lectures, and firm presentations.

Some of the firms we work with include the “Big Four” accounting firms (PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, KPMG, EY), mid-sized accounting firms (RSM, Grant Thorton, EisnerAmper, Protiviti, etc.), marketing firms (HorizonMedia, etc), as well as many other firms in order to enhance recruitment efforts and provide information sessions.

Furthermore, every spring semester we host our biggest event of the year, Dress for Success. Dress for Success is our annual business attire fashion show that displays the do’s and don’ts of business attire, describing both the appropriate and inappropriate apparel for business professionals in various settings. Recruiters from multiple firms attend, participate and sponsor the event as well.
